It's interesting for me: is it legal to make walpapers and use pictures that are avalable on cliparts and on the net. I don't think so.
That all depends on the 'use agreement': is the image being used 100% royalty free? or is it free so long as credit (web sites name/link) is given?
As far as I am concerned most wallpaper sites are running on the shady side (if not using images without authorization, they are passing off malware)!
i disagree i think most wallpaper sites are using their own images.. its not that hard to make a wallpaper..

Sure, but what about the original images? I mean photos of the nature and so on...

So the operators of the wallpaper (WP) sites are purchasing the images from a celebrity image broker (similar to a porn image broker)?
The question is not how easy it is to make a collage, rather whether or not the web master or owner of the WP site has a license (authorization) to use the images.
Just like in the porn industry: if they did not purchase or lease the images they are stealing them, thusly the site is operating illegally.
