first of all, get a logo:) it doesn't have to be a "logo logo", just a nice flashy bold text.
you can find some nice and easy to follow text effects tutorials on these sites good-tutorials (http://www.good-tutorials.com/tutorials/photoshop/text-effects) or psdtuts (http://psd.tutsplus.com/category/tutorials/)

for the rest of the site, i think adding a body would help. maybe separate the left column from the rest of the content. add some structure to your site :)
