Yes, this is the problem - you need good posters first if you want to close submit.

As long as the blog host you use and/or software you install has rss, atom, or rdf feeds, its a great sourse of traffic and income. There are about 500 sites online which list rss feeds for free without a link back required.

Most of the good software and good companies have a method of requiring approval before allowing reply posts. Two of my bloghosts have a method so that you can set a one time approval required to post comments.

Blogs are much more effective for those of us who build a follower base on the blog and then people are actually interested in what we say. When you start advertising, you start making money in a hurry, because people trust you.

SE doesn't prefer them. Its does not prefer/not prefer its a machine, at least google is.

Its not a problem you see. How it works is they look at many things on a site. One of those things is how often the site is updated. Blogs tend to be updated more frequently. Another thing they look at is the size of the site. Logically speaking, the larger a site is the more creditable it typically is. Well blogs index. That means they grow to be an enormous site. They become a worthy source.
Blogs also use pings. This means you use an rcp ping to tell google, and a a few hundred rss websites every time you update, they then come and add it to the database. On the same lines you have trackback. With trackback any blog that links to specific articles of your blog, is tracked, and most software links back automatically. This is great because then google, and other SE see exactly who is linking to what in your site.
Also did you know the worlds largest blog is in fact about.com :)
Blogs being spammed, and in fact more spam blogs appearing as well (blogs with the only purpose of containing 200 links to the same site) , you will find a filter will be put out. This is actually being done because of a google hack called the google bomb. I won't go into details about it but you can search for yourself.
What I can tell you is that any site you find in google that is a blog of links, you can report and they do get blacklisted.
I realize this is my first posting and no one here knows me at all, however I have a good ammount of knowledge with both google and microsoft search. I show up with top results and get massive traffic. Currently I am learning how to get better traffic coming in from yahoo. So this is also my introduction to who I am. LoL.
