Just read a thread at webmasterworld. What do you think about it?

Can you post here url? ;) Generally I supose, that google is not primary against linktrades, but linktrades mean nothing in whole context. There are thousands of fanatics, who are improving their rankings through heavy link trades, but google needs to be relevant - showing relevant results - and this philosophy have nothing to do with density of reiprocal links... just my opinion ;)

I think google's position is that, link trades aren't good or bad but if your site only has links to it from sites that you link back to then you're adding no value to the web in general.

Link exchanging is a valuable resource when you're first starting or when there is genuine use to having both sites visitors cross browsing.

If your site links out to quality sites, has a reasonable number (10-20%?) of link exchanges and has quality incoming links then that is a good start and I'm sure google and others will appreciate it.
