Message boards for surfers - your opinion?

What do you think about such types of projects? Is it profitable - I think that surfers on this boards want only free porn and it's very difficult to make them signup at pay site :?

Also it's ineresting for me how to promote this types of projects?

I've seen topic at GFY today - one guy sells gay surfer board with 3500+ members for 5000$, it's not too much, why does he do it?

I believe the non-industry people that visit adult webmaster boards are not looking for porn. I feel they are caught-up with how 'cool' and mainstream porn is becoming and they merely or simply want to be part of something cool ... I call these people trendoids.

I do not believe a lot of subscriptions or memberships will result from a message board, but I can foresee some money being made from webmaster referrals - new person or surfers/visitors joining the industry. Whether or not they actually work to succeed in this business is another thing.
